Fiesta del Sol in Chicago

Thirty-five years ago in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago, the Pilsen Neighbors Community Council decided to have a "block party". Today that party, Fiesta del Sol-Chicago, draws over one million people, and is recognized as one of the four largest Latino street festivals in the United States. Working with their sister organization, Justice Overcoming Boundaries, The Pilsen Neighbors' team was instrumental in helping shape San Diego's version of this great event. Both organizations are part of the Gamaliel Foundation, an international community organizing network. Check out Fiesta del Sol-Chicago, at www.fiestadelsol.org.

Fiesta del Sol 2013
Entertainment Lineup

Community Pavilions are the heart and soul of
San Diego's largest family-friendly street festival.

Children's Village

Interactive, hands-on activities for children such as arts and crafts, interactive games, and face painting are the focus of our most popular pavilion. You'll also find child development resources and enrichment activity information.

Arts and Culture Pavilion

Everyone is welcome to pick up a brush at the Arts & Culture pavilion, which is anchored by The Art Miles Community Mural Project and Talente Hispano. The pavilion also features art activities that will help you channel your hidden (or maybe not so hidden) creativity.

Healthy and Fitness Pavilion

This year's Healthy Living Pavilion seeks to promote an alternative approach to a healthy, holistic lifestyle. This includes traditional medicine in combination with stress management, nutrition, and personal self care. We are seeking and encourage organizations and individuals who are able to provide FREE presentations and sample services, and information for the general public. Space will be available for traditional health organizations in the areas of: childhood obesity, diabetes, preventative care, HIV/AIDS, teen pregnancy, immunizations, elder care, and alcoholism.

Civic Participation

This pavilion will feature civil and human rights information, free citizenship application information and assistance, legal non-profit resources, voter registration, and Comprehensive Immigration Reform information and advocacy opportunities. That's our vision for a stronger America!!! Come by, get involved and take action!

Youth Zone

An interactive area that will engage youth from our communities with music, activities, and information about recreational, education and health resources focused to keep them on a positive path.
