Fiesta del Sol in Chicago

Thirty-five years ago in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago, the Pilsen Neighbors Community Council decided to have a "block party". Today that party, Fiesta del Sol-Chicago, draws over one million people, and is recognized as one of the four largest Latino street festivals in the United States. Working with their sister organization, Justice Overcoming Boundaries, The Pilsen Neighbors' team was instrumental in helping shape San Diego's version of this great event. Both organizations are part of the Gamaliel Foundation, an international community organizing network. Check out Fiesta del Sol-Chicago, at www.fiestadelsol.org.
